Marine Resources Committees Program

Marine Resource Committees (MRCs) are county-based, volunteer committees that identify, prioritize and implement local projects and activities and advise the county on marine resource issues. MRCs are composed of representatives from the scientific community, local and tribal governments, local citizens, and economic, recreational and conservation interests.

Marine Resource Committees invite project proposals designed to promote local marine stewardship, restoration, and citizen engagement. Applications are reviewed on an on-going basis. Projects must fall within at least one of six broad categories as defined by the Coastal MRC Program Work Group: Marine Habitats, Marine Life, Marine and Fresh Water Quality, Sound Science, Education and Outreach, and Coastal Communities.
